What are some native american tribes without casinos on their land?

I know that many native american tribes have opened casinos on their land in an attempt to solve economical issue they face. What are some tribes that have rejected this idea? I know the Haudenosaunee (Iroqouis confederacy) refuses to build casinos. Who else?

Thanks in advance!

The Hopi, continue to stand strong against casino on their reservation. There are other "rez" that do not have casinos. As one colleague mentioned, there are several California Nations that do not have casinos. Also, there are a couple of Nations that do not dispense gaming funds to individuals, the funds go directly back into the tribal budget.

NOTE: The Dine' (Navajo), opened up their "Fire Rock Casino," east of Gallup, NM, back in Nov. of 2008.

The tribes of Nevada are not allowed to have gaming on their lands. This is because gaming is Nevada's bread-and-butter and in order for tribes to set up gaming facilities they must set up a compact with the state. Since the state won't agree with allowing tribes (aka competition) to start gaming operations, none of the tribes of Nevada have casinos.

several haudenasaunee nations have casinos new york.

there is a difference between indian gaming and what someone may think of when they say "casino" while there are some large casinos that are tribal, the majority of the tribes with gaming have only slots. i've seen bigger living rooms than some tribal "casinos". which is why it is so Nanook when people think we are all so rich from casinos. out of all the revenues generated from gambling only 5% of it is indian gaming. the rest is corporate owned casinos (like las vegas) and state lotteries.

In Canada, for now the Wet'suwet'en, Gitksan and Nisga'a that I know about.

I don't know about the United States though. You are going to have to check out some websites for each tribe I would imagine.

One of our hereditary chiefs jokingly called buying Keno lottery tickets our "Indian Stock Market". LOL.

Before colonists arrived in North America, our people would hold pow-wows to re-unite and visit with relatives who married outside their tribe, play games and gamble as well. Perhaps that is why a lot of Native Americans love gambling: bingo, casinos, lottery tickets, race horse, wrestling.

I hope this information helps. Take care and God bless. Keep safe.

The Navajos don't have any casinos on their 55 million acre rez. Lots of tribes here in Calif. don't have casinos, and life on the rez is still pretty much the same
