A charge card means you pay the bill in full every month. There is no financing option.
A credit card means that you don't have to pay the bill in full every month and they will charge you interest on the balance owed.
American Express and Visa are both brand names.
American Express used to be only a charge card but I believe they now offer credit cards as well. They are not as widely accepted as Visa and Mastercard, generally because the fees they charge merchants to accept them are higher.
Visa started out as credit cards but now the brand is also on debit cards.
I hope that answered your question.

Two different companies, that's about it, except AME you have to pay off the entire balance at the end of the month, at least that's how it used to be with them. The Visa, you would just pay a payment towards the balance while they charge you interest on the remaning balance.
Charge card and credit card are the same thing. American Express and Visa are two different brands of major credit cards. MasterCard and Discover are the other two most common major credit cards. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover tend to be accepted in more places than American Express.
